A Ball Gown Wedding Dress is the Perfect Grand Gown
Ball gown creations are extremely feminine and wouldn’t be out of place
on the red carpet at the Oscars as well as down a sweeping aisle. They are
dramatic gowns which are not for the shy, retiring-type brides, but instead for
those who want to make a statement.
Designers of ball gown wedding dresses tend to go to town with their
ideas – featuring jewels, embellishments, beading and embroidery throughout.
Ball gowns typically have a tight fitted bodice and a huge skirt, gathered at the wasit to give maximum volume. Often layers are added to add even more volume. While this style can be forgiving for anyone who feels their lower body needs
hiding, take into account that if you're petite you might want to
avoid such a large gown. A ball gown is good at accentuating particular features such as a beautiful bust line and slim waist. It's excellent for hiding large hips or bolstering up if you are missing some curves. Avoid if your bust is over-generous though, or you may end up looking over-matron-like.

Fabrics for ball gowns have to be given particular attention due to
their weight, and they have to fall just right. Taffeta works well for
structured gowns while crepe is ideal for full skirts and chiffon can be used
for overlays. The way such a dress moves is also vital – and when trying on
hoops under material it is important that it doesn’t move independently of the
bride, giving the impression that the dress is wearing the woman.
Ball gowns best suit weddings which are in impressive and in grand
venues because this design is made for classic and elegant occasions. If
beauty, romance and traditional is also the order of your day, a ball gown
could be the style for you. Avoid this cut if your big day is going to be more
laid-back and informal, because the worst thing a bride could look is like she
doesn’t belong to her own day.
